Our Mission
Our mission is to empower LGBTQ+ organizations in rural areas of America where resources are lacking by supporting vital services, encouraging advocacy, and fostering community connection.
What We Do
With more than 100 years of combined experience in nonprofit management, marketing, business development, and organizational consulting, we work with small, often rural, LGBTQ+ charitable organizations to help them grow stronger, more sustainable, and more connected. Many grassroots organizations are doing critical work with limited staff and resources, often without access to the tools and support available to larger nonprofits.
Our role is to help bridge that gap through practical support, strategic guidance, and a nationwide cooperative network built on collaboration rather than competition.
Our Work Includes:
-
Conducting individualized assessments to identify organizational needs
-
Providing practical support and strategic guidance
-
Assisting with organizational development and long-term planning
-
Supporting marketing, operations, infrastructure, and fundraising efforts
-
Connecting under served LGBTQ+ organizations to share ideas, resources, and opportunities
-
Building a nationwide “Chosen Family” network rooted in collaboration and collective strength
By bringing organizations together rather than allowing them to operate in isolation, we help strengthen coalitions, amplify the voices of under served communities, and create opportunities for LGBTQ+ organizations and the communities they serve to thrive.
Our Vision
The Chosen Family Project envisions meeting its mission by:
-
Supporting services that address physical, mental/behavioral health, housing assistance, food insecurity determined on a partner-by-partner basis as determined and prioritized by our companion organizations.
-
Assisting in establishing advocacy training and implementation within communities that are currently lacking in their ability to self-advocate because of location, stigma, safety, in a productive, safe way.
-
Focusing on forming partnerships both in and outside of individual communities to encourage organizations to share and communicate needs with one another.
